About The Organisation

Founded in 1984 by Sri Asok Ghosh, SEVA promotes a just society based on participation, cooperation, and sustainability. It works towards eliminating oppression and violence, implementing projects in North 24 Parganas, Birbhum, and Kolkata with various collaborators for social welfare.

SEVA is dedicated to fighting poverty, illiteracy, gender discrimination, superstition, and the erosion of basic human values. It works against religious fundamentalism and environmental degradation, striving to create a just society based on equality, education, sustainability, and respect, empowering communities to build a better, more equitable future.

Vision

SEVA aspires for a society based on the values of participation, cooperation, trust, empathy and sustainability irrespective of differences of cast, creed, gender and religion; a society that upholds the right to freedom of thought, opinion and expression and thus promoting the social, economic and cultural interest of each member living in an environment protected from human outrage in any form.

What we do

SEVA operates pre-primary education centers for underprivileged children in North 24 Parganas and combats poverty through its Manab Jamin initiative in Bolpur-Sriniketan, Birbhum, since the 1990s.

SEVA collaborates with the Ministry of Women and Child Development Government of India, Department of Women & Child Development &Social Welfare Government of West Bengal, IRRI, Anudip Foundation, VIHAAN.

SEVA runs a Child Care Institution in North 24 Parganas, working with DCPO, CWC, BSF, community members, and coordinates with the Railway Protection Force (RPF).

Since its inception, SEVA has focused on agricultural development, emphasizing planning, training, and technology to promote organic farming through Vikas Kendra, its North 24 Parganas wing.

A research program for equality and sustainability in the government health system began in 2010, supported financially by Memisa, Belgium, and supervised by the West Bengal Voluntary Health Association.

SEVA promotes environmental sustainability and empowers women through waste management programs, educating communities on waste segregation and recycling to reduce pollution.

SEVA empowers women through skill-building initiatives in tailoring, handicrafts, food processing, and digital literacy, fostering self-reliance and entrepreneurship.

SEVA is deeply committed to enhancing community awareness and providing training at the village level to improve living standards and empower rural populations.
